"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9)

Many thanks to all of our prayer warriors for manning the Prayer Room last week!
"There are going to be times when an officer-mother ... has to be granted time and space to be a full-time mother. This can be done if leadership is willing to take a modern and enlightened view of the situation ... [giving the] opportunity to minister to her small children for a few years.... We cannot fall into the trap of allowing systems (separate appointments, separate payment of allowances, etc.) to become anti-family. I hope that ... officer-mothers feeling the need for understanding will be met with tenderness, imagination and flexibility, and will never be deprived of an allowance. In the Officer Undertakings that we have all signed it says that our cash allowance 'is not a wage, salary, reward or payment for services rendered.' We are not paid for what we do. Officership is more about being than doing."
We really, really, really need your help covering the Prayer Room ALL DAY tomorrow, and Sunday morning!
Dear all,
IT IS STRANGE ISN'T IT...

"In this time and place we are irrevocably committed to a life of holiness. This is not a passive holiness. It is an active holiness that seeks to bring an end to the shedding of innocent blood. Not surprisingly, this is also a holiness that provokes vicious opposition. In response to such opposition, we will keep our nerve, for we are also called to strive for peace. Striving for peace is a complex practice. Striving for peace calls for intentional immersion in the life of God."

"A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic -- on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg -- or he would be the devil of hell. You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronising nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to."
We'll be at camp (again!) next week.
"Even when Nashi flagrantly breaks the law, the authorities do not intervene. After Estonia enraged Russia by moving a Sovietera war memorial in April, Nashi led the blockade of Estonia's Moscow embassy. It daubed the building with graffiti, blasted it with Stalinera military music, ripped down the Estonian flag and attacked a visiting ambassador's car. The Moscow police, who normally stamp ruthlessly on public protest, stood by."
